Technical Information
Technical Information considering gears, mechanical components, steels, heat treatment and machining is listed following:
Calculation of the number of teeth of the wheel is based on the desired gear ratio. Finding the optimum number of teeth is not an unambiguous task and cannot be solved directly. The number of teeth influences mesh conditions, noise, effectiveness and production costs. Therefore the number of teeth is usually selected and made more accurate according to qualitative and strength indexes.
Generally, the rule says that increasing the number of teeth leads to:
• Increasing the load rating of the surface (contact, galling, wearing)
• Improvement of the coefficient of the mesh
• Reduction of the bending load rating
Recommended values for gearing with angles of axes 90°:
Gear ratio | Range z1 |
1 | 18-40 |
1.12 | 18-38 |
1.25 | 17-36 |
1.6 | 16-34 |
2 | 15-30 |
2.5 | 13-26 |
3 | 12-23 |
4 | 10-18 |
5 | 9-14 |
6 | 8-11 |
Lower values are chosen for hardened wheels with curved teeth, higher values are chosen for straight non-hardened teeth.
